HISTORY
D2T were founded in 1989. Their goal was to establish an innovative Research and Development Center in France for powertrain research and testing. D2T have continued to grow and develop in several complementary departments ever since. D2T now offer a broad range of products and services for engine and powertrain research. In 2006, D2T merge with ETSm, a powertrain development center, to give birth to an actor of reference in powertrain engineering and testing resources to serve the automotive industry. D2T also developed testing activities in connection with fuels, additives and lubricants.

GROWTH
This continuous growth results from the introduction of new and innovative products (such as the MORPHEE Automation Software) and services that focus on testing efficiency and ease of use. These products are introduced to the market by our subsidiaries and partners throughout the world.

Either by internal or by external growth, D2T have added to their widely recognized competence in engine and software development by acquiring additional knowledge in electronics, test bed engineering, and special equipment such as chassis dynamometers and wind tunnels.Moreover, D2T detain a unique know-how in mechanical computation and rotational driveline modeling, originating from aeronautics and aerospace technology.

D2T has also grown due to the acquisition of hi-tech companies. These acquisitions have added to the widely recognized competence of D2T in the areas of software
engineering with the introduction of electronics, test bed engineering, and specialized equipment (such as chassis dynamometers and wind tunnels).
With the added knowledge from the aerospace industry, D2T possesses a unique know-how in mechanical computation and rotational driveline modelling.

A technical cooperation agreement signed between D2T and IFP enables D2T to offer an extensive range of products and services for the automotive industry.

STRATEGY
D2T's strategy relies on furthering our international development and continually providing new and innovative testing solutions for our customers.

D2T have subsidiaries in Germany, the United States, Korea and China, and are also represented via a system integrators network in all countries where engine and vehicle development and production are found.

In order to maintain a high degree of innovation, D2T dedicate a significant percentage of their sales turnover to research and development.

The integration of various types of know-how, the supply of best-fitting products and high-tech transfer enabled D2T to reach a high maturity in their domain. D2T offer complete turnkey solutions to their customers and partners for the following activities:

Engine and powertrain engineering

From innovation to engine calibration phase, D2T operate extensive means which enable engineering to cover the different components of engine and powertrain development phases.

Increasing demand for car and driver simulations in the field of testing will soon lead to a conversion from classical test beds to dynamic test beds.

  • 28 engine test beds including 8 HD test beds
  • 20 R&D gear boxes, transmission(s) and components test beds
  • 1 chassis dynamometer for performance and pollution
  • 2 cold climatic cells

These cells, designed for engine tuning, and a multiple skill technical team enable D2T to meet most of the customers’ specifications and execute comprehensive engine development projects. These projects may be achieved either in a fully self-contained manner or in collaboration with customer/D2T mixed teams.

When suggesting studies for practical use of innovative methods, D2T is the ideal partner for the improvement of your systems and calibration of vehicle, engine and powertrain calculators.

On-site sub-contracting

With almost a third of our manpower, it is without any doubt the dominant activity of our axes of development. 

The D2T’s acknowledged expertise in the fields of engine and powertrain development enables them to send a qualified staff to the customer’s site. Thus, 110 people can execute mission projects which accurately meet customers’ requirements.

  • Powertrain or engine calibration

Our excellence in automotive engineering enables us to cover a wide range of customer interventions, from global OEM or tier one suppliers, to major Oil Companies in a number of technical areas of engines:

  • ECU calibration-engine control, test bed and on-vehicle powertrain mapping
  • Emission after-treatment, Diesel particulate filters, catalysts
  • Engine control, injection systems, engine/fuel coupling, lubrication, thermal management, alternate fuels

Our practical approach and understanding of customer servicing and/or relationships is always based on an active exchange with our partners.

Test beds equipement

Equipped with laboratories and technical testing centers, D2T provide the motorcar industry world with test bed products and systems :

  • Test bed automating systems making it possible to perform fatigue or performance  tests with their MORPHEE  2  software package;  D2T  can also perform high dynamic tests by integrating vehicle simulation and driving behavior
  • Dynamometers : EC dynamometers, synchronous or asynchronous dynamic machines
  • Measurement equipement : combustion analysis or emission benches

Test bed engineering

D2T own a "Test Bed Engineering (IME)" entity which surveys, performs and ensures test bed maintenance (engine testing cells, component benches, roller benches, blowing tunnels…). D2T act as integrator in projects such as: engine and powertrain cells, climatic chambers, chassis dynamometer, component benches… in the scope of both new and refurbishement work, the IME department intervene in turnkey solutions, both as contractor and deputy contractor on production and R&D facilities.

During turn-key projects for new cells or upgrades of existing cells, D2T offer the management of the following tasks:

  • Building & civil engineering
  • Fuel storage and supply
  • Fluids and electricity supply
  • Ventilation, exhaust, air-conditioning
  • Fire protection system
  • Mechanical layout, bed-plate
  • Dynamometer, coupling shaft

ENGINEERING & DEVELOPMENT
D2T has been an active partner for research institutes and universities for many years.

R&D areas of D2T are software, electronics, and mechanical engineering. These R&D departments are shared by the different activities of D2T.

Within the framework of the technical cooperation agreement between IFP and D2T, IFP ensures the R&D of new products and D2T makes these new products available to the industry with our sales and marketing departments, and after-sales service teams.

D2T can effect original studies and realisations in the following areas :

  • Full engine design,
  • Single-cylinder or poly-cylinder,
  • Formula 1 and Races engine design,
  • Gear-box and transmission design,
  • Components design : crankshaft - connecting rod - manifold - piston - cylinder-head ...

For engine and powertrain engineering, D2T offers innovative research and development using tools like FEA, CFD, CAD (SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer…).
We also incorporate our acquired tools initially developed for the aeronautics and aerospace industry.

Thanks to R&D activities D2T is able to offer cuttingedge technologies for: High Dynamic Dynamometers, Automation and Automatic Calibration System, Combustion Analysis. Using this technology, D2T contributes to the reduction of pollutant emissions and fuel consumption while preserving the driveability of the vehicle.
